It's fine. I've gotten used to it. They pretty much handed my name around back home anyway so half the community knows who I am while I get to call them all by their codes

It's not like there's much of a science to magic that we know of. If there was then I'd be able to figure out a heck of a lot more.

Funny answer: yes, because he never got his Hogwarts letter and he's still angry about it.

Sort of serious answer: I think he doesn't like things he can't reason out. Stuff where "just because" is the only answer. Which is definitely what magic is, like you said.

I think it's cool too! And you're right, it definitely has rules, but then he gets all huffy like "well if it has RULES then it's not MAGIC it's SCIENCE" and stomps around in a nerdy huff about it, so I think he's just weird.
